Tottenham v Borussia Dortmund (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank was asked if he believes he can win the supporters back: "As I have said many times, as long as we win football matches and make sure we win enough of them - everyone will support us. It is not about me. It is about supporting the team, the players.

"We are playing a game tomorrow against a very good German side and we are a little bit limited with the players available. We have 11 outfield players available for the game from our normal first-team players. One of them is Xavi [Simons] and he didn't train today because there was a bad tackle from behind that injured his ankle but because he is so strong mentally he will play through pain tomorrow. Big courage to Xavi. And I cannot understand why that is not a red card, but that is for a bigger discussion.

"We have 11 players available and we probably have three players that need to push massively to get through 90 minutes physically, so that's why we need everyone to support us.

"We need everyone to support us from minute one. Especially the team, especially the players. If we get that support, anything can happen. Magic can happen."

We’re too quick to sack managers these days. How long did Sir Alex take to get Manchester United winning? Give him a couple of seasons. He did great at Brentford.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank was asked what he knows about the discussions that have taken place at board level over recent days: "I've just been, how can you say, feeling the trust along the way. I've said that every press meeting. I had lunch with Nick, Vinai and Johan today and it was all good. All part of the media circus and I can only think about winning against Dortmund."

Right, Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is talking.

Manchester City have completed the signing of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi for £20m.

The 25-year-old England defender had a medical on Sunday after agreeing personal terms with City and has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract.

  7. 'I am feeling the absolute backing from everyone at the club'published at 15:28 GMT

While we wait to hear from Thomas Frank in today's news conference, here's what he said immediately after Saturday's damaging defeat at home to West Ham.

The Spurs boss stated that he still had the backing of the club's hierarchy, but admitted he sympathised with the fans who booed his side at the full-time whistle...

There is no greater demonstration of a lack of ambition by this board than to stick with Frank. It’s such a poor decision. It delays the inevitable, and he has to go.

    Noah

The situation we find ourselves in is unrecoverable by Frank. A lot of the players are not good enough. For now we just have to get them to step up for a new manager (interim), win some games, avoid a relegation fight and then have a major reset in the summer.

    Stephen

Frank has been tactically poor but fans need to be real – we're relying on two inexperienced wingers and the disappointing Muani to score our goals. Richarlison, Maddison, Kulu and Kudus all injured, Solanke and Bergvall barely fit, plus we've sold Son and Johnson. Would another manager really fix this?

    Ralph

From a non-Spurs fan, sad to see Frank struggling. He did fantastically at Brentford, perhaps should have avoided the Spurs poisoned chalice...

  9. Simons joins team-mates in trainingpublished at 15:09 GMT

Tottenham fans - for those of you who read the earlier post on absentees, George Cummins has been in touch to put your mind at ease.

Xavi Simons did in fact make an appearance, taking to the field later in the training session.

The Netherlands forward is scheduled to speak to the media as part of the club news conference, which is due to start at around 15:30 GMT.

Stick with us and we will bring you his top lines, as well as quotes from Spurs manager Thomas Frank.

I actually think Thomas Frank is being mistreated by the fans. Spurs don't really have a stand-out attacking player to get them out of trouble when they aren't playing well!

    Phil

Brentford fan here. I knew the pressure was going to mount on him the moment he started this job. But, Spurs fans, he is the man for the job. When he started with us, we only won like 2 from 15. We stuck with him and the rest is history.

The outfield players started doing rondos in two separate groups while Frank and his coaches watched on. The keepers were training on a different pitch.

Frank will provide team news when he speaks to the media later this afternoon, but there were several absentees from training.

Radu Dragusin, Xavi Simons and Joao Palhinha weren’t involved. Micky van de Ven was also absent, but he is suspended for Tuesday’s match with at home to Borussia Dortmund.

Anyone who thinks Spurs should sack Frank just doesn't understand football. He's a good manager doing the best he can with blunt tools. Until Spurs sort out the rot inside the club no manager will ever succeed there. They are where I expected them to be this season.

We mentioned Tottenham's extensive injury list earlier on and within that were a few doubts before Tuesday evening's game.

Well, it looks like we can chip one off the list, at least.

Midfielder Archie Gray, who was forced off at half-time during Saturday's defeat by West Ham United, is taking part in the session with the side.

Due to the sparce numbers, there are A LOT of youth players involved.

  17. Frank in positive spirits during open trainingpublished at 14:30 GMT

The Tottenham squad has started open training under the watchful eye of Thomas Frank. New coach Johnny Heitinga was the first to greet the waiting media as he left the changing room.

He was soon followed by Thomas Frank who said hello to everyone before he was asked how he is. “The sun is shining and we are here to play football,” said the under pressure Tottenham manager.

The sun was shining but, a bit like Tottenham's season, it’s now looking a little gloomy.

He’s got to go. Proven mangers rarely evolve their approach when moving from small to big clubs. Success stories were already playing progressive, big-club football - Silva at Watford, Rodgers at Swansea, Pochettino from Southampton.

    Jamie

Frank and the players are all to blame. Our play is ponderous, we constantly give the ball away and our attacking players are dreadful. The players seemed to have downed tools with the tactics, the lack of urgency/fight is alarming.

    Neil

It makes you wonder what the people who are saying stick with Frank have seen. Have they actually watched us play this season?

The problems seen now have been a long time coming and not due to Frank. Inadequate recruitment has left the squad very thin of players of top-four quality, particularly during a season involving high numbers of games. The board need to look long and hard at themselves.

    Phill

Spurs fired the man who got them to the Champions League final, and the man who won their first trophy in decades. Of course firing Frank now is madness, but he's the manager of a madhouse. Not sure why we expect any different from them by now.

    Callum

By now it should be clear that it’s not just about the manager. We’ve had a few of those in the last few years, including some of the best. We need to give Frank time to get his feet properly under the table
